Call on the Foreign Minister by the Ambassador of Libya

The Ambassador of Libya in Pakistan, H.E. Mr. Ibrahim E. Mukhtar Hentish called on Foreign Minister Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Qureshi at the Foreign Office today.

          The Foreign Minister underlined Pakistan’s desire to further enhance friendly relations with Libya in all fields. He appreciated the sincerity and warmth of the Libyan Leader for the people of Pakistan. 

          The Libyan Ambassador, referring to the invitation for visit to President Zardari extended by the Libyan Leader, Mu’ammar Gaddafi, said the visit will be a step towards further consolidating bilateral relations. 

          The Foreign Minister underlined the importance of strengthening bilateral economic ties. He mentioned that Pakistan could provide considerable expertise to Libya in oil and gas exploration and in the development of banking sector. The Foreign Minister also highlighted that Pakistan’s manpower could play a constructive role in the development of Libyan economy as Pakistan possessed abundance of skilled human resources. 

          The Foreign Minister agreed with the Ambassador’s proposal to hold the next session of Pakistan – Libya Joint Ministerial Commission early next year.
